Root Canal Treatment

A root canal treats inflammation or infection inside the tooth so you can keep chewing comfortably. After numbing the tooth, we isolate it, create a small opening, and clean/disinfect the canals. When appropriate, we use 3D CBCT imaging to visualize complex anatomy that regular X-rays can miss and plan treatment confidently.

Frequently asked questions

Will the procedure hurt?

Most patients are surprised at how comfortable a root canal feels. We fully numb the tooth, and you’ll mostly feel light pressure. Afterward, some mild soreness for 1–2 days is common and can usually be managed with over-the-counter pain relievers.

How long does a root canal take?

Most cases are completed in about one to two hours. Teeth with complex roots or previous treatment may take longer or require a second appointment.

Why might you use 3D imaging?

We use 3D CBCT imaging for cases to allow us give you the best possible diagnosis. It lets us see tiny details that standard X-rays can miss, so we can treat your tooth more precisely and reduce surprises.

What is GentleWave® and do you use it?

Yes. GentleWave® is an advanced cleaning technology that uses sound waves and fluid activation to reach areas inside the tooth that traditional methods can’t always reach. We may recommend it when it helps ensure a more complete disinfection.

Will I need a crown afterward?

Usually yes. Once the inside of the tooth is treated, your general dentist places a crown to protect the tooth long-term. If the tooth has been crowned before your visit, oftentimes it can be permanently filled by your dentist

How long will the tooth last after treatment?

With proper restoration and care, root-canal-treated teeth can last just as long as natural teeth.
